Traveling with little ones in car seats doesn’t have to be a disaster—it just takes a little prep and a whole lot of grace. If you haven't traveled with car seats before, I put together a whole list of pros and cons for the different car seat options.
This just so happened to be the trip we took, where all three of our children were still required to sit in car seats with the 5-point harnesses.
Here's what worked for us - Our Top 3 Car Seat Hacks (bringing 3 forward-facing car seats on a plane)
Foldable trolleys - The car seats strapped perfectly on these. They were lightweight, folded to a small size, and allowed the kids to pull their own car seats like luggage.
Foldable roller crate - This was the same idea as the trolley with the additional function of storing the items the boys would need on the plane. This helped with keeping together all of the sweaters, backpacks, snacks, etc.
Checking car seats & stroller at the gate - While it may seem like a lot to lug three car seats and a stroller through the airport with three kids, it was our overall preference to check at the gate. For us, it minimizes the chances of things getting lost or damaged. The stroller also helped with carrying the carry-ons for each of us.
While there is so much more logistics to think about with traveling, this was definitely a heavy portion to intentionally think through. (Especially since our kids at the time were 2, 4, and 6!)
Ultimately, I am so grateful for the memories and can't wait to travel with the kids again!
